GREAT VALLEY





Company "Great Valley" was founded in Yerevan in 1998 on the initiative of a young businessman Tigran Artsakantsyan. It has received this name in honour of Ararat Valley - granary of Armenia, where according to the legend patriarchy Noy planted the first vine and received an ancient wine of amber-coloured fruit.
The emblem of the company is a lioness, holding a spear. According to Armenian epos this noble animal embody bread-winner mother, and strong drinks which increasing the strength of tale personages is accepted to call lion milk.
Today "Great Valley" is a holding, uniting several large winemaking enterprises, where cognacs and vintage wines of high grade are produced.
The company is one of the direct heirs of Armenian cognac making traditions, founded at the second half of the XIX century. From the first days all the production of "Great Valley" is produced by the recipe of an honoured wine maker of Russia and Armenia Robert Azaryan.
The cognacs of Great Valley are produced according to the classic technology, only of the local grape, meeting the standard accepted in 1999 by National Standard, which require bottling at the territory of Armenia. In the assortment of the production there is 20 kinds of cognac belonging to three main brands - "Great Valley", "Tsar Tigran" and "Armeniak". The first one include cognacs matured for 3 years and more, intended for the masses. "Tigran Mets" cognacs are elite kinds with age of 12-30 years. The star of the collection is accepted to be 30 year "Tsar Tigran", which has received most of the awards. Cognacs "Armeniak" don't have analogues in the market, the age is 21 years.
The ISO 9001 certificate of management system standard confirms high level of production organization. The company takes one of the leading positions in Armenia by the production quantity, export and sales of cognac as well as by purchase of grape. The main part of the production is sold in Russia, as well as in USA, Europe, Japan and other countries. The company also takes an active part in the revival of wine-growing in Armenia.
The main production plant of "Great Valley" is Artashat wine-cognac plant, founded in 1905, in the centre of Ararat Valley in Artashat ( at that time it used to be a village and now administrative centre of Artashat region). During a hundred years of work the plant has been one of the largest winemaking industries of Armenia. Here the main reserves of high quality cognac spirits, the age of which is more than 40 years, are kept.
The awards of the company to the 1.01.2005: 1 Super Grand Prix ( the only in the history of the Armenian cognac-making), 18 Grand Prix, 3 "Prodexpo" stars, Platinum medal of the testing contest in Paris (October 2004) and quality diplomas, as well as 240 medals, ISO international quality standard system certificate 9001 and 2 international quality standard prizes, the main prizes for container and package design (Havana) and exposition at "Armexpo 2004":
The founder and president of the company Tigran Arzakantsyan is a freeman of a town Gavar (the centre of Gegarkunik region), deputy of General Assembly of RA, member of a Standing Commission of GA RA by finance and credit, budget and economical issues, member of Parliament Group of Republic party of Armenia, Doctor of Economy of International Business Academy and business undertaking of the Russian Federation.
Professional skill of the main cognac maker of "Great Valley" Robert Azaryan has been mentioned by gold medal named after Lev Golitsin and international (the best winemaker specialist) title and his name have been written in the Book of Honour of the Research Institute of winemaking and grape growing (Magarach). Robert Azaryan dedicated 40 years of his life to his beloved profession. He worked as the main specialist at the Yerevan cognac plant, after which at The All-Russian Research Institute of nonalcoholiń, brewing and winemaking industry, in1998 he has been invited to newly founded company "Great Valley", Which has became one of the leaders by producing of Armenian cognac.
