"International Energy Corporation" Closed Joint Stock Company was registered in the Republic of Armenia on May 8, 2003.
On July 17, 2003 the company acquired the property of "Sevan-Hrazdan Cascade" CJSC and on September 01, 2003 Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia granted a license No. 0108 for production of electrical energy (capacity).
From the first day of its existence the Company has pursued and is pursuing the policy of rehabilitation and technical modernization of Cascade's plants with the improvement of work and payment conditions. New office of the company corresponding of modern standards was built during the shortest period of time (during 2004). Technical and engineering staff of the company has been fully selected from the personnel of "Sevan-Hrazdan Cascade" CJSC having a good practical experience in the energy systems of Armenia and Russia. The Company participates in rehabilitation works of other republics and implements the technical and economic audit with the issue of complete complex of recommendations, technical, legal, tax and financial solutions for another companies. The Company makes an active export of the electrical energy to the Republic of Georgia and plans to arrange electrical energy export to the adjoining States.
The property of "International Energy Corporation" CJSC includes seven hydropower plants of Sevan-Hrazdan Cascade located on Hrazdan River in the Republic of Armenia. The plants utilize the natural flow of Hrazdan River as well as the irrigation water discharges from the Lake Sevan. Usage of waters from the Lake Sevan and from the River Hrazdan (besides the production of electrical energy) allows to irrigate up to 70% of agricultural lands of Armenia and to provide the industrial water supply of the cities. Tunnels, constructed in the Republic of Armenia provide the transfer of some flows of rivers Arpa and Vorotan and allows to produce irrigation and energy discharges from the Sevan Lake (without any injuries for the Lake) in the minimum volume from 350,0 mln. m3 to 440,0 mln. m3 per year. This will lead to the possibility to increase the guaranteed irrigation and power generation in the Cascade from 400,0 up to 700,0 mln. kWh per year.
