The Scientific Centre of Drugs and Medical Technology Expertise was founded in 1992. The main goal of which is to control drug circulation and realize drug policy and provide the population with efficacious, safe and high quality drugs. The Expertise Centre has been awarded with Century International Gold Quality Era Award, Quality Summit (Platinum Award for Excellence and Business Prestige), International Diamond Star for Quality and International Quality Crown Award by BID from 2003 to 2005. At the Expertise Centre in 1993 the best equipped chemical-analytical Laboratory the Exlab branch was established. It was certified by the Societe Generale de Surveillance (SGS, Zurich, Switzerland) for ISO 9001:2000 standard in 2003. The Exlab is also an exclusive laboratory in South Caucasus region with a capability to perform quality control of drugs, some food products (honey, milk, eggs, etc.), identification of medical plants' active components, oils, kerosene and petrol and as well as bioequivalence investigations in accordance with international requirements. The Exlab equipped with a Gas Chromatography-Mass-Spectrometry HP 5973/6890 System, high performance capillary electrophoresis 3D system (Hewlett-Packard), three HPLC stations (Beckman, LKB, Varian), GC (Perkin-Elmer), TL-plates-Spectro-Densitometer (Desaga), IR and UV spectrophotometers (Beckman), Spectrofluorimeter (Shimazu), MRX Dynatex Microplate reader for ELISA and ERWEKA dissolution test apparatus as well as many other necessary instruments for pharmacokinetic and bioequivalence investigations. Laboratory has developed and validated new exclusive and extraordinary analytical methods, in particular methods for determination of individual carbohydrates, saturated fat acids and cholesterol in foodstuff, antibiotics and pesticides in honey, 3,4-benzopiren in air, evaluation of nutrition factors for fruit juices and jams, quantitative analyses of narcotics and anabolic steroids in food supplement.
At present, The Expertise Centre has Cooperation Agreements with more than 30 scientific and industrial organizations in Armenia, 5 state and public institutions in Georgia and pharmaceutical companies in Sweden and Ukraine.
