
Yerevanshin Open joint Stock Company has a long history. In 1980, Yerevanshin Construction-and-Assemblage Production Union was set up in the industrial construction system of Armenia.
In 1995 Hayastan-Shinarar Closed Joint Stock Company was set up as a result of the merge of Yerevanshin and Hayshinmekenayatsum Companies. In 1998, Hayastan - Shinarar CJSC was privatized and renamed into Yerevanshin Open Joint Stock Company.
Over the first 15 years of its activities the Company constructed more than 30% of Yerevan city housing stock. The construction - assemblage works carried out by the Company ammounted to some US$ 100-120 million annually. The Company carried out construction works in Nor-Nork, Ajapniak, Davidashen, Erebuni, Avan-Arinj, South-Western and G-3 districts, the Sport school after H. Shahinyan, the Palace of the Youth, Armenia Hotel, the building of the Russian Embassy in Yerevan and many others. The Company also carried out the reconstruction works at Erebuni and Ani hotels, and constructed numerous pre-school and school complexes, cultural centres, social and household complexes.
After the devastating Spitak earthquake of 1988 the Company took an active participation in the reconstruction of the earthquake zone. In particular, the Company constructed the Italian district and the hospital after F. Nansen in Spitak city, the hospital of the German Red Cross and the American district in Stepanavan city, the building for the First Instance Court of Shirak Marz and number of other buildings in Gyumri city.
Over the last few years(2002-2004) the Company carried out complicated and unique construction and reconstruction complex works at the Yerevan State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet after Al. Spendiaryan, the Big Concert Hall after A. Khachaturyan, the Chamber Music Hall after Komitas and Republic Square, in the frame of the LINCY Foundation project.
The Yerevan church of Holy Grigor Lousavorich, constructed in the period of 1998-2001, deserves a special attention. This is a unique construction in Armenia and differs from others due to its architectual, project and architectual-constructive solutions. The building is a 63 meters high and has 3200sq.m space. The complex of intersecting pair archs with 38m bay and the facing with large tuff slabs attach a unique architectual national colouring to the building.
The project author St. Kyurkchyan, Architect Y. Dallakyan and Managing Director of Contractor Yerevanshin OJSC V. Poghosyan were awarded State Prize for the construction of the Yerevan Church of Holy Grigor Lousavorich, according to the decree issued by the President of the Republic of Armenia, in 2001.
In 2004, by Decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia, the Managing Director of the Company V. Poghosyan was awarded "Anania Shirakatsi" medal (for the successful completion of works in the frame of LINCY Foundation project).
Yerevanshin OJSC is one of the largest construction companies that has a good name and enjoys confidence in the Republic. Due to its experience and technical capacity (stone workshop, basalt, travertine and tuff stone mines, workshops of glass, wooden, aluminium and plastic doors and windows, as well as workshops of concrete and partition blocks and slabs, in different measure and shape) the company is able to fulfil any project, construction - and - assemblage, as well as reinforcement-reconstruction works at full and in time.
